Summer Fun

August 22, 2023.

Although I spent a good amount of time working on various projects and working this summer, I still made a good amount of time for fun. Some of the fun things I did this summer include the following,

  1. I went to Minneapolis this summer for a four day vacation. We started out by seeing one of my favorite artist Melanie Martinez on a Wednesday night. The concert was so fun but also a lot, I have been to many concerts but none quite as busy as hers. After the concert we went to Valley Fair the next day which was a completely unplanned event but we saw the rollercoasters as we were driving in and had to go. There was so much to do there from rollercoasters to a giant waterpark. I love rollercoasters but don’t get to go on many so getting to go was a nice treat. The day after that we went to a place called SeaQuest. While we were there we got to pet a sloth, feed otters, and snorkel with sharks and sting rays. Doing those things was one of the most surreal moments of my life. Never did I think I would get to feed one of my favorite animals (Otters) or face my fear of sharks. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area it was my favorite part of the trip. On the last and final day we went to The Mall of America and while it was fun we were both so ready to go home by that point and our feet hurt from all the walking we had done over the past three days that we didn’t stay long at the mall before heading home.
  2. Over the course of this summer I have become quite social and willing to go out more with friends, which is something I am usually hesitant about because I like my alone time. However, this summer I was doing something or hanging out with someone almost everyday. I spent many nights out way too late and getting no sleep but it was all worth it because I had a great time. I went to my first karaoke bar, spent hours at Wild Water West, went to the Sioux Empire Fair, reconnected with old friends, and spent many late nights playing board and card games.
  3. Another major thing I did this summer was get back into reading. I used to love reading and then the older I got the less I started to do it. I would have moments of reading a lot but never stuck with it for too long. However, this summer I decided that was something I massively wanted to get back into so, I did. I started reading again in June and as of today have read 17 books this summer. I am on my fifth book of the month, and even decided I love reading so much that I bought a Kindle. I am so happy I got back into reading and I can not wait to continue expanding my reading list.
  4. The last and possibly most meaningful thing I did this summer was purchase my second cat. I am a huge cat person, even more specifically I have always, for as long as I can remember wanted a Siamese kitty. Late June I started looking around and after an unfortunate event with The Humane Society that left me very disappointed I finally found a Siamese! His name is Azriel and he is a perfect addition to the family.
